S&C Named One of the 2016 Top Solar Contractors

S&C Electric Company was recently named one of the Top 500 Solar Contractors in North America, achieving the rank of 36th among utility contractors and 51st overall. The rankings, presented by the publishers of Solar Power World magazine, recognize S&C’s dedication to bringing renewable energy to North America through innovative engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. This is the fourth consecutive year that S&C has made the list in the award’s five-year history.

“Here at S&C, we pride ourselves on our work in energy storage and renewables. Being able to increase the reliability of the grid while working to develop new technologies to further inject solar into the grid is a reward in itself,” says Dan Girard, S&C director of EPC and Global Business Development. “We work endlessly to meet the needs of the end user. Whether that be specialized energy storage units or dual-function placement of solar panels, S&C will do whatever it takes.”

S&C has been a pioneer in energy storage and solar energy deployment, having deployed 241.67 MW of solar energy over the past decade. The energy-storage systems that the company deploys use field-proven power-electronics technology to rapidly respond to changing system conditions. Among S&C’s recently completed projects incorporating energy storage and solar energy generation were the Oncor microgrid and the Village of Minster solar + storage initiatives.

“The companies on this year’s list exude solar-business brilliance, and they deserve to be recognized not only for being great companies, but also for how their work positively impacts the environment,” Kathie Zipp, managing editor of Solar Power World, said in the article announcing the rankings.

The magazine will recognize the Top Solar Contractors on September 12 in Las Vegas during the Solar Power International event.
