Behind every resilient grid is the people who build it.
For more than 100 years, generations of S&C team members have engineered and manufactured technologies that keep the power on during storms, surges, and shifting energy demands. That American manufacturing legacy was recently recognized when Chicagoland-based S&C was inducted into the Illinois Manufacturing Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026.
Presented by the Illinois Manufacturing Association (IMA), the Hall of Fame honors the people, products, and companies that have made a lasting impact on the state’s manufacturing industry and economy.
Since inventing the Liquid Power Fuse in 1911 and ushering in a new era of safer, more reliable electricity, S&C has helped shape the future of electricity distribution. That early invention has grown into more than a century of category-defining innovation and manufacturing excellence, driven by skilled technicians, engineers, and production teams dedicated to building a more resilient and reliable electrical grid.
Illinois manufacturers employ 650,000 people and contribute the largest share of the state’s economy. The Illinois Manufacturing Hall of Fame recognizes organizations whose innovations, products, and people have helped shape the state’s manufacturing legacy.
For S&C, the induction is a recognition of the team members whose ingenuity, craftsmanship, and dedication have helped strengthen the grid and the communities that depend on it.
