Power Grid Innovator Honored as 15th-Best Workplace in Chicago Tribune’s 11th Annual Report
CHICAGO, October 30, 2020 – S&C Electric Company, Chicago’s second-largest manufacturer and a leading grid innovator improving power reliability and delivery worldwide, has been named the 15th-best place to work among large employers in the Chicagoland area by the Chicago Tribune. The prestigious honor marks S&C as one of the 2020 top workplaces in the area, determined by feedback from companies’ team members.
“It’s incredibly meaningful to be selected as one of the top workplaces in Chicago, given the award is based on direct feedback from our team members,” said Aurelie Richard, S&C chief human development and strategy officer. “As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to change how we live and work, this recognition from our team members is a great gauge of our continued progress, illustrating that we are actively living our core values and guiding principles of excellence, respect, integrity, and responsible stewardship.”
Now in its 11th year, the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces list recognizes companies that engage, motivate, and reward team members while also exploring how organizations create and sustain a positive and productive culture. S&C was honored by being named the 15th-best large employer out of the 20 large employers recognized. The full list, which includes over 130 organizations throughout Chicago, covers a wide range of industries, including real estate, healthcare, education, and restaurants.
S&C has been headquartered in the city’s Rogers Park neighborhood for more than 100 years. Employing 2,000 team members at its Chicago location and more than 3,000 team members worldwide, S&C is an employee-owned manufacturer that prides itself on designing and manufacturing utility-scale electric-grid equipment.
To qualify for the Chicago Tribune’s Top Workplaces list, a company must have at least 100 employees in the Chicago area. The survey is then run by a third-party research firm, Energage, which coordinates the surveys and calculates the list of top workplaces.
