S&C Electric Company to Host Diversity Panel at DISTRIBUTECH International
Company CEO and Chief HR Officer among six speakers at the Powered by Diversity Luncheon
CHICAGO, May 23, 2022 – S&C Electric Company, a leading grid innovator improving power reliability and delivery worldwide, is leading conversations around workplace diversity at the DISTRIBUTECH International conference in Dallas during the Powered by Diversity Luncheon.
On Tuesday, May 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., S&C President and CEO Anders Sjoelin and Chief Human Resources Officer Felicia Kohlenberger will host a panel of industry leaders to share their perspectives and offer best practices for increasing workplace diversity and attracting and engaging talent from diverse backgrounds.
“Working toward more diverse, equitable and inclusive workplaces makes our industry stronger and more innovative. As we navigate the energy transition, the best ideas come from diverse perspectives and authentic collaboration,” said Kohlenberger. “Hosting the Powered by Diversity Luncheon provides an opportunity to facilitate important conversations and create a safe space for attendees to share their experiences. Collectively, we have made improvements—but together we can do more to advance diversity in our industry.”
S&C will also be exhibiting its latest product innovation, the VacuFuse® II Self-Resetting Interrupter, at booth 2923. The VacuFuse II interrupter is the only advanced lateral protection device developed for the edge of the grid. Replacing overhead distribution transformer fuses, this innovation brings fault-testing further down lateral lines than ever before. With 70 percent of faults at these locations caused by transient issues, the VacuFuse II interrupter prevents unnecessary sustained outages, ultimately boosting customer satisfaction and improving resilience as the grid faces increasingly severe weather events.
At only 12 pounds, the VacuFuse II interrupter’s lightweight and ergonomic design makes installation easy for crews. Show attendees will have the opportunity for hands-on engagement with the VacuFuse II interrupter to get a feel for operating this compact fault-testing device.
“The energy transition is no longer a future trend; it is here today,” stated Sjoelin. “The impacts of climate change, whether attributable to severe weather or emission-reduction efforts, and our growing dependence on electricity are rapidly advancing the need for a more resilient, reliable and sustainable grid. Our industry—utilities, manufacturers and regulators—must work together to accelerate our efforts to ensure the distribution grid is ready for this transformation. At S&C, we are collaborating with our customers to develop innovative, holistic solutions that both solve today’s critical concerns and help advance the distribution grid we need for the future.”
Other solutions S&C will showcase at DISTRIBUTECH International include the IntelliRupter® PulseCloser® Fault Interrupter, TripSaver® II Cutout-Mounted Recloser, and Vista® Green Underground Distribution Switchgear. For more information on S&C Electric Company, visit sandc.com.
