PMX Switchgear Gets High Marks for Its Compact Size.

Moorhead Public Service was asked to relocate the primary metering point at Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota, to accommodate system improvements being implemented at the college.

The Utility decided to use this opportunity to tie together three feeders that were already in the area, to improve service reliability. They contacted S&C’s representative to discuss switchgear options for the application.

Initially, S&C Remote Supervisory PMH Pad-Mounted Gear was proposed, applied with a separate pad-mounted metering cabinet. But since the gear needed to be located in very limited space, S&C PMX™ Modular Metal-Enclosed Switchgear was subsequently identified to be a better solution.

With PMX Switchgear, switching, protection, and remote-supervisory functionality could be provided in one compact lineup — a separate metering cabinet wouldn’t be necessary. Operation and maintenance of the unified assembly would be simpler too.

The utility procured a four-bay lineup of PMX Modular Metal-Enclosed Switchgear with remote supervisory capabilities. The gear is now in service.
