S&C’s Brad Roberts Elected Chairman of Electricity Storage Association
At the 17th annual meeting of the Electricity Storage Association, held in Boston, MA in May, Bradford Roberts was elected the organization’s new chairman. As S&C’s Power Quality Systems Director of S&C Electric Company, Mr. Roberts leads the company’s activities related to large-scale power protection and electricity storage. The ESA is an international trade organization and the leading forum for the development and commercialization of electrical storage systems that can improve the efficient use of electrical power. These systems enhance the value of energy generated by wind and solar systems and help reduce global warming.
The May meeting focused on commercial successes in the electricity storage market, including multimegawatt-hour projects in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. These projects reduce utility demand during high load periods through distribution of stored energy from the grid or wind power generated off-peak. The meeting attracted a forum of over 100 professionals from around the world who are interested in optimizing the electrical system to reduce global warming and improve overall utilization of existing electrical grids.
