S&C Introduces the Compact, Expandable, Scada-Mate CX™ Switching System
S&C’s Scada-Mate CX Switches are a breakthrough for economically automating overhead distribution systems. They’re three-pole, group-operated interrupter switches specifically designed to meet the increased need for reliable service. Scada-Mate CX Switches are rated 630 amperes continuous and interrupting and are offered in voltage ratings of 14.4 kV and 25 kV. They feature a five-time duty-cycle fault-closing rating of 20,000 amperes RMS asymmetrical. Circuit making and circuit breaking are accomplished within sealed interrupters, in a controlled sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) environment. Interrupter position is clearly visible on the open/closed indicator on the side of the switch.
Scada-Mate CX Switches are factory-assembled on a one-piece base and include an integral stored-energy operating mechanism. In addition to electrically operating the interrupters, the operating mechanism provides non-electrical mechanical opening and closing of the interrupters by means of a manual-operation pull ring. The switch can be locked open to prevent electrical or manual closing. They are available in upright, upright with extra mounting-pole clearance, and upright compact (alley arm) models. These switches are 40% smaller and 20% lighter than standard S&C Scada-Mate Switches.
With Scada-Mate CX Switches you only need to purchase the features required today . . . you can easily upgrade tomorrow. Switches can be furnished with factory-installed three-phase S&C Current Sensors, or with three-phase S&C Current/Voltage Sensors on one side of the switch. Alternately, S&C sensors or sensors of other manufacture can be added later. An S&C control unit for or control unit of other manufacture can be added at any time, making the switch ideal for source transfer or remote supervisory control applications.
