S&C Offerings Address Directive on Hospital Emergency Power Systems.
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations recently issued a “Sentinel Event Alert” to all domestic health care facilities, urging them to pay special attention to emergency power systems . . . specifically, how these systems can fail.
Every facility “. . . must assess the risk of electrical power failure—at various degrees of magnitude and impact severity—and make plans to deal with such an emergency.” The alert notes that “codes and standards are only a start” and that health care organizations should “go beyond the minimum NFPA life safety requirements and conduct vulnerability analyses of their facilities.” Every facility must respond to the alert, indicating the measures they have taken and the results.
S&C can help. We offer the industry’s finest, most-reliable products for hospital electrical systems:
- The PureWave UPS™ System provides seamless transfer between utility power and the standby generator. It facilitates increased testing of the emergency power system under load too, by eliminating nuisance outages during forward and back transfers.
- S&C’s broad range of medium-voltage manual and automatic switchgear can meet nearly every health care application need.
And S&C can provide a variety of engineering and design, construction and implementation, and operation and maintenance services for hospital electrical systems.
