Transmission & Distribution World Article: TXU Optimizes Reliability and Customer Satisfaction With S&C’s IntelliTEAM II®.
TXU Electric Delivery has set an objective for achieving top-decile performance in system reliability by the end of the decade. Toward that end, TXU has continued to evaluate new distribution automation technologies to optimize reliability and improve customer satisfaction. In 2004, TXU initiated a pilot project with S&C’s IntelliTEAM II Automatic Restoration System, which uses distributed intelligence and peer-to-peer communication to dynamically track system conditions and provide fast, fully automatic fault isolation and service restoration. The pilot project yielded significant reliability improvements: the new system provided a 35% reduction of customer outage minutes for the feeders in the pilot project. Based on the early success of this program, the program was expanded in 2005 and again in 2006.
