Article Featuring S&C PureWave AVC® Describes Creative Control Solutions at a Wind Energy Facility.

WindPower article

As more wind facilities are constructed, continuity and reliability are critical to both the interconnecting utility and the project owner. In the case of the Kumeyaay Wind Energy Facility in southeastern California, extensive studies were necessary to comply with operating constraints and the project’s interconnect agreement to ensure continuous and reliable facility operation. These exhaustive studies concluded power factor requirements, voltage regulation, and limiting voltage rise on the 69-kV system to a maximum level of 71 kV, which could be achieved with a dynamic VAR system. S&C's PureWave AVC® Adaptive Var Compensator was selected for the application, as detailed in this article.
