S&C Selected to Construct Wind-Turbine Collector System.

S&C Electric Company has been awarded the contract to construct a wind-turbine collector system and interconnect substation — including all underground and overhead distribution — on a turnkey basis for the Horseshoe Bend Wind Park. The owner of the wind park, United Materials of Great Falls, Montana, operates a mining facility that is currently powered by diesel generation. The new wind park will replace the diesel generation and not only provide 4 MW of clean power to the mining facility, but also 5 MW of power to the 100-kV transmission grid of Northwestern Energy. The developer, Exergy Development Group, LLC, working with United Materials and S&C Electric Company will complete the project by early 2005.
