UnderCover Style Vista® UDS Helps to Preserve the Ambiance of China’s “Spring City.”
UnderCover™ Style Vista UDS is installed below street level, preserving the atmosphere of this tourist center in China.
A regional electric power supplier in China faced some special challenges. Its home city, a tourist center, wanted to install an underground distribution system in a major upgrade of the main plaza to eliminate overhead electrical lines. Among the city’s attractions, though, are natural springs that bubble to the surface all around the town center—conditions that clearly called for submersible gear.
Because the electric bureau had already purchased varied products from S&C Electric (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., S&C’s subsidiary in China, they were familiar with both S&C’s products and problem-solving capabilities. Asked to take on the job, engineers from S&C China designed an array of five units of submersible Vista® UDS units for installation in concrete vaults below street level. The UnderCover™ Style Vista units preserved the atmosphere of the main plaza — clearly a priority in the upgrade — while meeting the challenging requirements of the application.
The first three units were successfully installed and energized earlier this year, with one unit serving the city’s largest department store and two more installed next to five-star hotels. The final Vista units are earmarked for locations nearby, all helping preserve the ambiance of China’s “spring city.”
