New 2000-A Line-Rupter™ Provides Reliable Solution for Heavily Loaded Transmission Systems.

Today’s aging transmission systems are supporting growing loads and a number of new merchant power plants. Yet obtaining right-of-way for new transmission lines can take years. The result: Continuous-current-carrying requirements for transmission systems are being pushed higher than ever before.

To meet this challenge, S&C is pleased to introduce Line-Rupter™ rated for 2000-A continuous-current-carrying capability. The 2000-A Line-Rupter provides the same reliable full-spectrum switching performance that S&C’s Line-Rupters have provided for decades, while expanding the application range for the product. Line-Rupters can be furnished with operating handles for manual operation, or with S&C LS-2 Switch Operators allowing for application in automated sectionalizing schemes.

The 2000-A Line-Rupter is available from 115 to 230 kV. In addition, already installed Line-Rupters can be easily retrofitted with new components to increase their continuous-current-carrying capability to 2000 A.
