Power Quality Magazine Features Cover Story by S&Cers.
Look for the cover story of the May 2002 issue of Power Quality magazine, entitled “Premium Power Solutions.” This article was authored by S&C’s Tim Wood, a senior applications engineer in S&C’s Power Electronics Division, and Brad Roberts, Director of Marketing for the Power Electronics Division.
A great deal has been written about the types of power disturbances that can affect sensitive equipment. By far, the majority of power quality-related events are caused by utility voltage sags, transients, and momentary and complete outages.1 This article discusses some of the major technologies available to mitigate power quality disturbances originating from utilities, along with current trends by manufacturers to make low- and medium-voltage devices more reliable.
