Simple Way to Add Remote-Resetting Capability to Trans-Rupter II® Transformer Protector.
S&C Trans-Rupter II® Transformer Protector Model EX offers an innovative and economical solution for substation transformer protection. Now there’s an easy and cost-effective way to add remote-resetting capability to the Trans-Rupter II Model EX: optional motor operators.
Trans-Rupter II motor operators are single-pole, 48-Vdc or 125-Vdc electric motors that automatically close and charge the pole-units. The motor operators mount directly under the pole-unit bases, so no additional electrical clearance is needed. Motor operators are weather resistant and do not require heaters. They can be added to most Trans-Rupter II installations at any time.
The motor operators close and charge the Trans-Rupter II pole-units in response to a user-furnished signal or when a push button is pressed locally at the low-voltage connection enclosure. Trip and close pushbuttons are included with the motor operator option. A source-side, gang-operated disconnect is required in series with the Trans-Rupter II in order to provide visible air-gap isolation when the device has tripped, and to pick up transformer magnetizing inrush currents after all three phases have been closed and charged.
