EnergyLine 5802 Two-Switch Overhead Option Delivers Big Cost Savings.

Two FIC 24-pin connectors.

Until now, EnergyLine 5800 Series multi-switch controls have only been installed with pad-mounted gear. New connection flexibility now allows an overhead mounted EnergyLine 5802 switch control to monitor and switch two closely sited S&C Scada-Mate® or Automated Omni-Rupter® Switches.

There are several applications for this new product including source-transfer and the larger IntelliTEAM® system. The switch control cables can be up to 100 feet long for each switch, connecting to a 5802 overhead enclosure that is fitted with two FIC 24-pin connectors (see photo). Control commands for the remote switches and status feedback from their locations use these FIC connectors. Three-phase S&C voltage/current sensors power the entire system. Outside communication or SCADA control is also possible.

Conventional layout practice would site two 5801 switch controls, one at each switch. They would be linked with two Utilinet radios or fiber optic transceiver, and use IntelliTEAM software to effect the source-transfer. Using a single 5802 automatic switch control eliminates the cost of installing one 5801 control, one Utilinet radio, and the costs of separate IntelliTEAM software for each control. It also allows the use of the less-expensive Solo AT software.

This pole-mounted source-transfer control system with the S&C Automated Omni-Rupter Switch is priced much lower than any other overhead source-transfer system.
