Externally Powered CCU-XP Control Offers Unbeatable Features.
There are now four control units available for S&C’s overhead Distribution Automation products that accommodate different automation approaches and strategies. Here is a first look at the externally powered CCU-XP that S&C and its subsidiary EnergyLine Systems Inc. jointly developed.
This unique control can support a variety of remote terminal units and communication devices, plus it has a streamlined design that offers unbeatable features. A high-output power supply/battery charger that utilizes EnergyLine’s unique battery management system is a key feature. This robust power supply has separate battery charging circuits and load circuits, ensuring a constant float voltage to the batteries. Input power to the CCU-XP is provided by user-supplied 120 VAC.
In addition, this high-output power supply/battery charger is retrofittable to existing CCUs. It is also ideal for applications where the radio has a power requirement that creates cyclic loading of the batteries. The robust power supply puts out enough power to accommodate a 5-watt output radio — even during transmit.
Remaining features of the CCU-XP include rechargeable sealed-lead stored-electrolyte battery packs, a Switch Control with open/close pushbuttons and indicating lamps, a local/remote switch, and operation counter. All components are neatly packaged in an easy-to-install 316L stainless-steel enclosure, simplifying wiring and greatly improving reliability.
