Metal-Enclosed Switchgear for Unusual Requirements.
S&C is often called upon to provide creative solutions to unique problems. Drawing on nearly a century of design experience and an extensive line of products, S&C can meet many unusual requirements.
Case in point: what do you do when you need to add additional feeder bays to a metal-enclosed switchgear lineup, but there is not enough space available? One possible solution is to use S&C’s compact Vista® Underground Distribution Switchgear, and wrap it up in an enclosure designed to look just like the existing metal-enclosed switchgear bays.
That was exactly what S&C did for a recent addition to a Midwestern hospital. A Vista UDS Model 302 with one incoming way and two ways with fault interrupters was added to an existing lineup. The add-on section served two three-phase loads, yet it was not much wider than a single bay in the existing line up. And the outer enclosure was constructed to match the appearance of the existing lineup.
This is just one example of how S&C Vista UDS and S&C System VI Switchgear can be used in lieu of — or in combination with — conventional metal-enclosed switchgear.
Vista UDS and System VI Switchgear are available through 38 kV, 600-amps continuous, and 16 kA symmetrical short-circuit duty. For applications meeting these ratings, System VI Switchgear can also be an excellent choice for new installations. Its exceptionally small size (particularly at 38 kV) and unique features can make it an outstanding alternative to conventional metal-enclosed switchgear.
