S&C’s Phase-Over-Phase Mark V Circuit-Switcher offers an exciting alternative for transmission-voltage line-switching applications. With increasing demands for improved service reliability, customers were requesting a reliable alternative to traditional gang-operated air-break switches. The time-proven Circuit-Switcher offers dependable performance, and the new mounting configuration allows the Circuit-Switcher to be mounted directly on the transmission pole. This innovative mounting configuration allows for sectionalizing points at radial taps where limited substation real estate might otherwise prevent the installation of a line-switching device.

The phase-over-phase mounting configuration allows for decreased phase-to-phase dimensions, reducing transmission pole-height requirements. The Phase-Over-Phase Circuit-Switcher is available at 115 kV and 138 kV, with either S&C’s LS-2 Switch Operator or a manual-geared operating handle. With the LS-2 operator, the Circuit-Switcher easily lends itself to automated sectionalizing schemes.
