Major Utility Names S&C a Top Engineering Services Supplier, Awards S&C Nearly 30 New Engineering Projects.

In November 1999, a large southeastern utility awarded S&C’s Power Systems Services Division six substation engineering projects and entered into a general services agreement with S&C. These projects required complete engineering and installation of a wide range of equipment, from new transmission capacitor banks, to substation transformers, to distribution feeders. In each case, the project scope included all electrical design, civil engineering, and structural layout — requiring updates of a large number of existing drawings and the creation of several new drawings. S&C even had responsibility for entering bills of material into the utility’s procurement system.

The initial six projects were completed on a very aggressive schedule — including the time required to study the utility’s CAD and design standards, to ensure that S&C’s work would flow easily into the customer’s system.

In July 2000, the utility told S&C that Power Systems Services is considered one of their top engineering services suppliers, based on the quality of S&C’s work and S&C’s success at completing projects on schedule. At the same time, S&C’s general services agreement was expanded to include all operating companies of the utility’s holding company. And in September 2000, the utility awarded S&C nearly 30 new engineering projects.
