Infrared Imaging for Electrical Equipment Condition AssessmentInfrared imaging

This course is designed to give the layman themographer a better understanding of the hazards, typical pitfalls and traps that can occur during a medium and high voltage infrared inspection. The focus of this course will be to discuss and understand different electrical components used in the utility world and how infrared imaging can best be used. We will also discuss the use of infrared in substations, overhead lines, pad mounted enclosures and underground vault locations from a utility view. During this session we will focus on the job planning, safety procedures, and reporting of findings and trend analyses. We will also cover what makes a successful program.

Who Should Attend

Any person involved in performing troubleshooting, managing or designing of a site whether utility or industrial that uses equipment that does or could experience elevated thermal conditions that could harm individuals or damage equipment or processes.

Instructor

Jimmy Davis is a Senior Supervisor in the Field Services Department of S&C’s Power Systems Services Division. He is an electrical utility professional with extensive experience in managing the design, construction, testing, commission, maintenance, repair, technical solutions and emergency restoration of electrical power systems. He is a recognized expert in automation systems, with extensive experience in the diagnosis/analysis and troubleshooting of power systems. Additional areas of expertise include energy use analysis, non-destructive testing, power quality solutions, data acquisition, information technology, and technical training and presentations.
