The NESC is one of the most important documents that an electric utility should adhere to. It frames the safety boundaries for design, construction and maintenance, and provides a practical set of rules that are now updated every five years. These rules and tables have been developed for the safety of the public and utility employees as well as the safe operation of the equipment itself. This seminar will provide a review of the entire NESC Code Book including insights that will help utility personnel understand it better and encourage its common use in everyday practice. It will also preview the upcoming changes in the new release of 2012 revision coming in October 2011. After October 31, 2011 the seminar will present all the changes between 2007 and 2012 versions. This means there is an urgent need to become familiar with the current and new versions of the NESC Code Book and move to implement its changes.
The first day of this two-day seminar includes an overview of the code that will build a good understanding of its framework and content. The second day will then emphasize many key details, including a good coverage of the current version of NESC and the new changes. Each attendee will receive a set of course notes, but must bring their own copy of the 2007 NESC. Copies of the 2007 NESC can be purchased at a discount in advance or at the seminar; see the course registration for order information. Questions will be welcome at anytime throughout the seminar
