This unique seminar offers a blend of theoretical and practical information gained by the speaker during his long career in industrial plants and hydro utilities. The objective of the course is to outline the characteristics of the electrical equipment used in the construction of power distribution system, with special emphasis on the application and subsequent performance. Design requirements and ratings, which must be considered at the time of component selection, will also be discussed. A number of “what went wrong” examples will be discussed.
Throughout the course, reference will be made to applicable Canadian and American Standards, e.g. CSA, ANSI, CEA, etc. The operation of some components will be explained using actual samples. You will derive the most benefit when you solve the practical assignments.
This seminar is designed for technicians, technologists, and graduate engineers working at different responsibility levels in electric utility departments and engaged in material specification, system planning, design, operation and maintenance.
