- Materials Analysis. Power Systems Services offers a comprehensive diagnostic package to fulfill the material and environmental-simulation testing requirements of electrical equipment. Problems are analyzed by a team of experts, utilizing sophisticated techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetry.

The 20,000 square-foot electrical and mechanical testing facilities of the Nicholas J. Conrad Laboratory at S&C Electric Company are well equipped to meet the rigorous testing requirements for electrical equipment.
Testing equipment and facilities include a three-phase short-circuit generator, two indoor short-circuit test chambers, an outdoor substation with step-up transformer, and a high-speed, memory-based video capture unit.
