Electric generation, transmission, and distribution equipment is designed to provide safe, efficient, and reliable power when properly maintained. Years of continuing use and exposure to the elements can adversely affect equipment reliability, which can result in unplanned outages . . . and their associated financial losses.
S&C offers multi-faceted Asset Management Programs that reflect our years of experience with high-voltage electrical equipment and proven systematic approach to maintenance. Such programs extend the life of the equipment and maximize reliability of the power system. We’ll partner with you to develop a comprehensive program that not only ensures the full operating life of your equipment, but plans for future maintenance, repair, upgrade, and replacement needs.

ASSET MANAGEMENT
An effective asset management program evaluates all current assets and includes an action plan for meeting future needs. First, S&C will work with you to establish your reliability, availability, and financial expectations. Then, we’ll identify all your assets by reviewing drawings and engineering documents. We’ll interview your personnel responsible for operating these assets, to understand the obstacles and challenges associated with the equipment.
We’ll perform a Failure Mode and Effect Analysis on the assets to determine how failures would affect your power system. From the results of this analysis we’ll prepare an action plan that defines how our team will react to different scenarios. S&C’s plan will define a specific course of action, the associated risks, the resources required, alternative solutions, and the time needed to resolve each scenario. We’ll also define a maintenance plan for your assets.
S&C can provide 24-hour/day, 7-day/week condition based monitoring of your assets at our operational center, ensuring that the equipment is performing per manufacturing and engineering specifications. We’ll alert you to any problems that might affect system operation or availability, and furnish recommendations for their resolution. If a problem does arise, your asset management plan will be implemented at the operational center.
S&C can perform preventative maintenance on your assets to ensure their continued proper performance. In addition to routine cleaning, lubrication, and adjustment, our field service specialists will assess the condition of the equipment, replace worn components, and implement any product enhancements that have been made. To eliminate the lead times associated with manufacturing and shipment of replacement components, S&C will work with you in developing a spare parts strategy.
