PME Pad-Mounted Gear

PME Pad-Mounted Gear

S&C’s “dead-front” PME Pad-Mounted Gear features elbow-connected components. All switch and fuse components are enclosed and protected within an inner, air-insulated steel compartment that keeps out foliage, wildlife, and contaminants, and also reduces exposure to energized live parts. The three-piece roof is hinged over the cable compartments; cables can be pulled up through the opening, simplifying installation.

PME Pad-Mounted Gear is offered in manual, remote supervisory, and source-transfer versions.

Manual PME

S&C Manual PME Pad-Mounted Gear is available in ratings of 14.4 and 25 kV, with switches and fuses in circuit configurations to fit every requirement. Recognized throughout the industry for their exceptional features and long-term value, Manual PME models include:

  • Isolated high-voltage components. Switch and fuse components are enclosed in a grounded steel compartment that keeps out foliage, wildlife, and contaminants and also reduces exposure to energized live parts
  • S&C Mini-Rupter® Switches, operated by an external handle, for 600-ampere three-pole switching of source circuits
  • Viewing windows. Allow visual verification of switch-blade position, eliminating need to move 600-ampere elbows
  • Comprehensive tap protection with:
  • Unique S&C TransFuser™ Fuse Mountings. Rotate to place fuses in the open, de-energized position for easy removal. Bushing wells swivel to the inside of the compartment, where they remain clean during refusing
  • Three-piece roof design features hinged sections over the cable compartments. Allows cables to be pulled up through the roof opening rather than the door openings, making installation easier and quicker.
  • Exceptionally rugged construction and the industry’s finest finish. Provide extraordinary resistance to the elements, keep high voltage components securely isolated from unauthorized access

Source-Transfer PME

S&C Source-Transfer PME Pad-Mounted Gear is a completely self-contained package that provides automatic switching between two sources serving critical loads. It incorporates the same outstanding features as Manual PME Pad-Mounted Gear, plus stored-energy operators and a sophisticated source-transfer control, which continuously monitors source status and automatically switches to the “good” source if voltage is lost.

Available in ratings of 14.4 and 25 kV, Source-Transfer PME is recognized throughout the industry for its exceptional features and long-term value. Source-Transfer PME models include:

  • S&C Micro-AT® Source-Transfer Control. Transfers on loss of source, voltage unbalance, or any source-side open-phase condition. It's easy to set up. All settings are keypad-programmable, calibration is automatic. Can be furnished with optional communications card to rapidly upload event log to your PC, download standard settings from your PC.
  • Built-in voltage sensors and power supply. No external wiring or control power required
  • S&C Mini-Rupter® Switches for manual and automatic 600-ampere three-pole switching of source circuits.
  • Unique S&C TransFuser™ Fuse Mountings. Rotate to place fuses in the open, de-energized position for easy removal. Bushing wells swivel to the inside of the compartment, where they remain clean during refusing.
  • Comprehensive tap protection provided by a wide selection of fuses.
  • Three-piece roof design features hinged sections over the cable compartments. Allows cables to be pulled up through the roof opening rather than the door openings, making installation easier and quicker.
  • Exceptionally rugged construction and the industry’s finest finish provide extraordinary resistance to the elements keeps high voltage components securely isolated from unauthorized access.

Remote Supervisory PME

S&C Remote Supervisory PME Pad Mounted Gear permits automated switching and provides fault protection. It incorporates the same outstanding features as S&C Manual PME Pad-Mounted Gear and can be specified with a communication and control equipment group, for a completely integrated, self-powered switching and protection package.

Available in ratings of 14.4 and 25 kV, Remote Supervisory PME Pad-Mounted Gear features carefully integrated components that ensure compatibility — all factory-assembled and checked-out. Remote Supervisory PME models include:

  • Your choice of remote terminal unit, including S&C’s 6801 Series Automatic Switch Controls that provide stand-alone automatic sectionalizing. Available with the unique IntelliTeam® SG Automatic Restoration System.
  • Your choice of communication device.
  • Built-in voltage sensor and power supply. Minimizes enclosure size and installed cost
  • S&C Mini-Rupter® Switches for manual and automatic 600-ampere three-pole switching of three-phase circuits
  • Unique S&C TransFuser™ Fuse Mountings. Rotate to place fuses in the open, de-energized position for easy removal. Bushing wells swivel to the inside of the compartment, where they remain clean during refusing
  • Comprehensive tap protection provided by a wide variety of fuses
  • Three-piece roof design features hinged sections over the cable compartments. Allows cables to be pulled up through the roof opening rather than the door openings, making installation easier and quicker.
