Opening and Closing Disconnect Style Power Fuses

SM-20 Power Fuses rated 25 kV and below, SM-4Z Power Fuses rated 25 kV and below, SM-40 Power Fuses, SML-20 Power Fuses, and SML-4Z Power Fuses are best handled using S&C’s Grappler™ fuse-handling fitting.

SM-5S Power Fuses rated 13.8 kV and below are best handled using S&C’s Station Prong and Large Clamp fuse-handling fittings.

Fuse units or holders for SM-20 Power Fuses rated 34.5 kV, SM-4Z Power Fuses rated 34.5 kV, and SM-5S Power Fuses rated 25 kV and 34.5 kV should be installed or removed by hand — but only after the fuse has been de-energized and grounded in accordance with local operating practices.

SM-20, SM-40, SM-4Z, and SM-5S Power Fuses must not be opened under load.

 

Opening and Closing Non-Disconnect Style Power Fuses

SM-4Z Power Fuses rated 25 kV and below, SM-5S Power Fuses rated 13.8 kV and below, and SM-5SS Power Fuses rated 13.8 kV and below are best handled using S&C’s Locking Prong fuse-handling fitting.

Holders for SM-4Z Power Fuses rated 34.5 kV and SM-5S Power Fuses rated 25 kV and 34.5 kV should be installed or removed by hand — but only after the fuse has been de-energized and grounded in accordance with local operating practices.

SM-4Z, SM-5S and SM-5SS Power Fuses must not be opened under load.
