Omni-Rupter® Switches
Construction

- No-external-arc interrupter. Interrupter contacts and blade are synchronized to coordinate dynamic internal dielectric strength with interrupter’s external striking distance, eliminating any chance for flashover
- Double-member, hard-drawn, round-edged copper blades are formed and trussed for extra rigidity, and permanently aligned
- Hinge contacts feature stainless-steel loading spring engineered to optimize contact pressure, operating ease, and blade stability
- Multifinger silver-clad blade contacts utilize loading springs and spacer bar for optimum contact pressure
- Terminal pads designed for hot-line tool attachment of connectors
- Formed-copper stationary contact features brazed-in-place copper-tungsten tip for fault-closing performance, silver plating with coined contact surface for efficient current transfer and enhanced durability, and a tapered profile for positive blade closure and smooth operation
- S&C Cypoxy® Insulator provides nontracking, self-scouring, nonweathering performance
- S&C’s unique clamping system securely and permanently locks pole-units to the base
- Corrosion-resistant stainless-steel-sleeved journals and bronze bearings provide smooth maintenance-free operation
- Separate dead-ending brackets preclude possibility of line tension jeopardizing switch-pole adjustment
- Single-member, square-section, heavy-gauge, galvanized-steel base supports switch poles in permanent perfect alignment. Fiberglass-reinforced insulated base offers the same performance
- One-piece interphase drive is factory-adjusted for close three-phase switching simultaneity. It’s non-conducting on insulated-base models
