Omni-Rupter Switch in Vertical Mounting Configuration

Introduction

S&C Omni-Rupter Switches provide no-external-arc circuit interruption for overhead distribution feeders, and are ideally suited for the following switching duties:

Line switching (Including sectionalizing and feeder switching)
Transformer switching
Cable switching.

Omni-Rupter Switches are rated 900 amperes continuous and interrupting in voltage ratings of 14.4 kV and 25 kV. These interrupter switches are available in a number of mounting configurations to accommodate the variety of line constructions encountered on today’s distribution systems.

As an added benefit, Omni-Rupter Switches can interrupt current up to 1000 amperes during emergency switching situations and are capable of carrying up to 1000 amperes continuously. These are definite “pluses” for today’s sectionalizing practices, where switching procedures may increase system loading up to maximum conductor ratings.

Omni-Rupter Switches are gang-operated — either with a ground level manual operating handle or with the vandal-resistant hookstick operating handle. All interrupter switches are factory adjusted and tested for close three-pole interphase interrupting simultaneity. Omni-Rupter Switches are available with optional fiberglass bases and fiberglass interphase operating rod-some configurations are available with wildlife protection.
