Contruction Details — Enclosure

Enclosure - Interior Enclosure - Exterior
  1. Wide bulkhead-type doors provide convenient front access for cable termination.
  2. Inner screen doors — bolted closed, they're a 6′-6″ high second barrier guarding against inadvertent entry.
  3. Specially designed gasketing or sealant provides weather-tight seals around seams and adjoining bays and roof.
  4. Heavy-duty grounding bails on all cable-termination points and ground bus.
  5. Cypoxy®, S&C’s cycloaliphatic epoxy resin system insulates all live parts from ground.
  6. Rugged construction. Each bay is a monocoque unit fabricated from 11-gauge steel.
  7. No externally removable bolts on enclosure sheets or roofs. Future bus extension covers are internally secured.
  8. Optional bus through bushings provide isolation between bays.
  9. Bus connections — protected by oxide-inhibiting compound, bolted to uniform torque. Special-purpose washers and bolts maintain optimum contact pressure.
  10. Insulating “no-drip” compound on underside of the roof checks condensation.
  11. S&C’s Ultradur® finishing system withstands more than 4,000 hours of salt-spray testing compared to ANSI-standard 200 hours.
  12. Comprehensive access controls-padlockable doors have heavy-duty latches and hinges. Manual switch handles are padlockable in switch-closed and switch-open positions. Access is further limited by snaplocks. Interlocks available.

ANSI Category A enclosures are available to meet the highest security requirements
