System II Modular Metal-Enclosed Switchgear
Contruction Details — Enclosure
- Wide bulkhead-type doors provide convenient front access for cable termination.
- Inner screen doors — bolted closed, they're a 6′-6″ high second barrier guarding against inadvertent entry.
- Specially designed gasketing or sealant provides weather-tight seals around seams and adjoining bays and roof.
- Heavy-duty grounding bails on all cable-termination points and ground bus.
- Cypoxy®, S&C’s cycloaliphatic epoxy resin system insulates all live parts from ground.
- Rugged construction. Each bay is a monocoque unit fabricated from 11-gauge steel.
- No externally removable bolts on enclosure sheets or roofs. Future bus extension covers are internally secured.
- Optional bus through bushings provide isolation between bays.
- Bus connections — protected by oxide-inhibiting compound, bolted to uniform torque. Special-purpose washers and bolts maintain optimum contact pressure.
- Insulating “no-drip” compound on underside of the roof checks condensation.
- S&C’s Ultradur® finishing system withstands more than 4,000 hours of salt-spray testing compared to ANSI-standard 200 hours.
- Comprehensive access controls-padlockable doors have heavy-duty latches and hinges. Manual switch handles are padlockable in switch-closed and switch-open positions. Access is further limited by snaplocks. Interlocks available.
