Mark VI Circuit-Switchers
Construction
- Single-gap, SF6-gas-filled puffer-type interrupter. Sealed for life — no field-filling required.
- Type CS-1A Switch Operator
- Mounting Pedestals. Optional 12-inch-square galvanized steel columns support the Mark VI Circuit-Switcher.
- Self-aligning, self-wiping silver-to-silver contacts for closing the circuit. Disconnect is positively toggled in the closed position.
- Pre-insertion inductors are comprised of two or more layers of stainless-steel or aluminum conductor wound — along with a resin-impregnated fiberglass roving — to form a hollow reinforced tube. A counter-wound stainless-steel damping winding limits voltage across the interrupter during closing, in ungrounded capacitor-bank applications. A layer of roving separates the layers of conductor; additional layers add mechanical strength and stability. The outer roving is coated with silicone-alkyd paint for all-weather durability.
- Rotating support columns with anti-friction bearings ensure smooth opening and closing of the disconnect.
- Vertical-break disconnect features same robust construction used on the Mark V. After the interrupters have cleared the circuit, the disconnect opens, creating a visible air gap. The disconnect closes after the interrupters close, to re-establish the circuit. High-speed operation ensures long life of closing contacts.
- Trip mechanism features spring-charged, stored-energy device, sealed in SF6 for protection from the environment . . . no heaters needed.
- Closing operator closes and resets the trip mechanism in under 2 minutes. Constructed of durable, weather-resistant materials.
- Position indicator shows interrupter state — closed or open. Contacts provided for remote indication (not shown).
- Temperature-compensated gas-pressure gauge shows gas density and provides visual indication of two alarm levels. Alarms can be monitored via SCADA with optional remote gas-density indicator (not shown).
