Circuit-Switchers

Introduction

S&C Circuit-Switchers are multipurpose switching and protection devices, field-proven through 40 years of reliable service. They’re ideal for switching and protection of transformers, single and back-to-back shunt capacitor banks, reactors, lines, and cables.

Circuit-Switchers are suitable for frequent operation over a long period of time with minimal maintenance. They can close, carry, and interrupt fault currents as well as load currents. They’re available in voltage ratings from 34.5 kV through 230 kV, with continuous-current ratings up to 2000 amperes

Circuit-Switchers feature hermetically sealed SF6-gas-filled interrupters that never need field filling. These interrupters utilize no-maintenance single-pressure puffer technology for restrike-free, non-current-chopping performance. Isolating disconnect blades feature current-carrying contacts with built-in wiping action, ensuring a clean, low-resistance current path. Circuit-Switchers utilize specially designed switch operators to ensure full mechanical and electrical performance.
