IntelliCAP PLUS® Automatic Capacitor Controls
The S&C IntelliCAP PLUS Automatic Capacitor Control is designed for the control of pole-mounted and pad-mounted switched capacitor banks in electric distribution systems. This reliable, easy to use, and flexible device is ideal for both SCADA and stand-alone applications.
The IntelliCAP PLUS control is easy to set up, operate, and troubleshoot via the IntelliLINK® Setup Software. The faceplate keypad and 2-line LCD also let you monitor real-time data, view alarms, and adjust setpoints without a computer.
This flexible control can meet a variety of needs:
- Standard control strategies on all units: Voltage, time, temperature, time-biased voltage, time-biased temperature
- VAR option: VAR and current control strategies
- Neutral current/voltage option: Detection of blown fuses and stuck switches. The neutral current/voltage capability is standard in all software, which makes retrofitting as easy as adding a sensor.
All of the controls also include the following features:
- Voltage/temperature override
- Wide temperature range LCD
- Support for a wide variety of communications hardware and software protocols. Communications hardware (radio, modem, etc.) can be mounted inside the control enclosure to save on installation costs.
- SCADA override strategy
- Automatic calculation of the voltage change (and kVAR change, if applicable) due to capacitor bank switching
- User-enabled automatic daylight savings and holidays
- Daily limit of automatic switching operations
- Extensive data logging and graphing
- Compact size (9.5" x 14.5" x 8.1")
- Test points for sensor input, readily accessible from the front of the unit.
- 4-jaw or 6-jaw meter bases, bracket mounting, or wall mounting.
For the IntelliCAP PLUS controls with VAR, S&C offers the inexpensive CS Series Current and Voltage Sensors. They are easy to use and install, and require no calibration.
